Subculture is a newly opened upscale boutique salon located in Downtown Tacoma Washington. With a team of award-winning stylist, a great downtown location, and a well laid out business plan they came to Bold Yeti to help with Branding and Web design.

The Challenge
The team at subculture contacted us before any branding was in place which meant we were in charge of logo design, branding guidelines and everything web. The team wanted to ensure they had a web presence which matched the upscale vision of subculture.
Creating an Identity
Everyone knows a professionally designed brand attracts more attention from potential clients and builds brand reputation and awareness. This is why our identity phase was so crucial to the project’s success. Bold Yeti created polished print collateral that instantly conveys elegance with a hint of playfulness that was ideal for the type of salon subculture was creating.
Website Build
The very day our identity and branding phase was completed we went to work on the website build. After seeing our brand collateral Subculture placed its complete trust in our creative direction, while simultaneously collaborating with our strategist and designers. After a lot of creative exercises and days of research on competing business we had a bold elegant design to show off.
Responsive
Responsive design is the norm now and bragging about it would be a little gratuitous but in the beauty industry perfected responsive design is an absolute necessity. In our research, we found that most people looked up local salons while on their phones, this meant a responsive easy booking solution was essential for the website. Because of this everything was designed with a mobile-first approach making the pricing and booking functions easy to use on any Smartphone.
Targeted Local Traffic
Building a site from the ground up is no easy feat but pushing that website into a local market and gaining rankings quickly takes a lot of work. We optimized local listings, built out location specific landing pages and created a strong content strategy to target the Tacoma market. The results ?- and impressed client, a boost in traffic and rankings and a thriving, ongoing partnership with subculture that continues to grow.
The Results
The entire project helped deliver a solid foundation for Subculture Salon to build off of along with a great website that has generated lots of new business. After launch Subculture succeeded in obtaining vast awareness of their new business and cornered the market as the go to upscale salon in downtown Tacoma.
